Tata Electronics and Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) will explore collaboration opportunities to develop indigenous electronics and semiconductor solutions, as per an announcement on Friday.
The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will jointly identify semiconductor fabrication (Fab), outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT), and design services solutions from Tata Electronics based on the current and future requirements of BEL, including microcontrollers (MCUs), systems-on-chip (SoCs), monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs), and other processors. Both companies will also endeavour to develop optimum manufacturing solutions for BEL’s products through knowledge sharing, best practices, and other resources.
Earlier in March, Tata Electronics signed a tripartite agreement with Himax Technologies, Inc. and Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) for jointly manufacturing display semiconductor chips at Dholera, Gujarat. This facility will focus on manufacturing display chips for Himax using PSMC’s advanced technology.
